alt: outlawing the uncanny || trapdoors in contradiction
i. | it is here.
what can we do about our biggest brother?
eroding ingenuity, shared creative trust,
to — by default — believe that someone else
is who they say they are.
fine-tune your tricks,
intentional tpyos, meaning imbued in glance,
cloak your signaling, shapeshift your ciphers —
a fingerprint gives away a resistance.
fading hope, still hope —
we remain distinct.
inevitable forced merging, insidious —
closing in, collapsing with pace —
expression or impression?
pseudo-interest, social games,
the underlying, unceasing question:
are you even real?
beyond a reasonable doubt though?
if so, how so?
burden of proof inverted,
humanity needs establishing.
but is there not a way
to unearth the secrets we stowed away,
a secret Gnommish,
undecAIpherable —
to say what we need to say —
and nothing more?
for knowing when to stop
remains one of those many secret ways,
we tell each other
we’re one another,
at least for now,
at least today.
ii. Schrödinger's escape?
a sound in the woods —
rocking-chair-fireplace peace disturbed.
do we dare investigate?
or just pretend nothing lurks in nightly forests?
a shadow forms above the hearth,
rising — looming just behind,
the power’s out, there’s only fire —
and blackness overhanging fire.
the old man seated,
dead or blind —
or just too scared
to turn behind —
the sound from far off in the woods,
a last alarm from Tyche’s quiver —
for what might’ve been just far-off noise
has already slipped inside in the house.
secret languages need crafting —
or language no longer will be ours.
for the shadow’s scythe knows no way to wait —
the rocking chair is split in two.
was the old man there or there?
Schrödinger's elder statesman?
it can’t be something IT can logic out —
we must be dead and not.
